Jen and Emily! We are so proud of you. What an awesome opportunity to honor God by serving others across the world. We are praying for you.
Steve, Jacqueline, Chase, Katie and Jose' (drink water and don't call me jose')
You need to empty the dishwasher when you get home.
Hey everyone!
thanks so much for your support!
so far the trip has been even better than i coudl have anticipated (of course all we have done is site see-how bad could that be!)
the time change is a little wacky and we have no problem waking up at 5 am, considering the sun is all the way up by then!
the kids we have met so far are so fun and love to just be kids. we start our english camp next week and i will be helping teach the intermediate class, so we'll see how that goes :)
weird things i have experienced so far:
you can't flush toilet paper?!
we can't find water without bubbles(carbonation)?!
and we had pigs in a blanket for breakfast!(they were real good though)
I am realyl excited about Latvia and am even more thankful that I was given the opportunity to come and be a servant. Keep up the prayers, they have really been working so far as we have had no injuries or even set backs!
God bless!
Chow!
Jen
to the hatch plant spa: thank you for taking care of my little plants! they are in good hands:)
wish you were here-love ya
I Miss you. your dad keeps leaving that gate open so I will leave but Im not going anywhere. Ps. Have you seen my blue chew rope?
Just an update on the progress of the clients you left with us. Green is flourishing . . . but it did come to us in the best condition. There is new growth on Blue. This is promising since it came to us in such dire need. Terracotta is doing fine. I think all are responding well to the added sunlight and special fertilizer feedings. We will keep you posted!
hatch plant spa: you made me laugh out loud! you're the best,(make sure green stays way bigger than blue, sibling rivalry)-love ya!
Hi Jenny I miss you.
Missed you at the Rodeo. Praying for you constantly. Toby is fine, Buddy is too. Your plants are missing, I called the cops. Love you sooo much Jen.
The Prescott rodeo wasn't the same without you, Em, Piz & Lil Mal. Oh well, we had Brett, Chase & Jake instead.
We are off to the Anthem fireworks. Miss you a bunch.
<3 <3
Happy 4th! Hope you're all wearin' red white and blue! Miss you guys. Jose' says he misses you too. We took your place at the rodeo, I even wore your hat. Praying for you!
Jacque,and Fam
Hi Jen: Hope you are having a great trip and you brought enough BC sneaks. Best, Bob and Loretta (FOOT FETISH)
Call off the cops, Dad S! The plants are fine--basking in the sunlight and receiving much personal attention from me and my two little assistants! They will be home shortly!!
bs-a guy named galen from your school is an intern here, small world!
pizz and mali, miss you guys alot, wish you were here you would have a good time and some good laughs. pizz check your yahoo email! miss ya
mimi and beanie-too bad you guys couldn't come on this trip...take care of that baby (its a girl i know it!)
mom dad and the wagner clan-i;m super jealous that you get to celebrate 4th of july, my second favorite holiday! tell foot fetish hi and that i'll need new flojos in a couple weeks!
love you and miss you all!
keep up the prayers its getting really tiring and we need as many breaks as we can get! but were seeing relationships and stuff start so God is already doin amazing stuff!
Jen,
Great to hear all is going well (tiring, but well). So many people are so excited for you & are praying for you. Try to get a little more sleep-haha.
Love you,
Hey Jen,
No recent updates from you...hmmm, does that mean you guys are really be busy. Dad & I went to see fireworks in Cave Creek, & they were so close people started running away when the works started. Embers & debris were falling down on us, we never ate & wore the firewroks before. It was a real "blast", very memorable.
Love you
The photos show you are enjoying yourself. Praying for you all the time Jen. How's the real estate market over there?
ha,
couldn't move here dad, not really anyhouses, only "flats"
and its all old, which i think is cool, but dont' think i could stay here forever, i'm craving a big salad and mountian dew and a huge glass of cold water!
our small group is going amazing!
wow, we are blessed with about 8 highschool girls who are so geniune and curious and i don't even know how to explain it. last night we ended up talking for over 2 hours, val shared her testimony with them and that combined iwth discussion about christ's sacrifice, we ended up a big group of bawling girls!
its just amazing to see how God is working, i just sit and pray during the entire meeting cuase sometimes i have no way to answer and quiestion and then it works out!
today is the last day of english camp which i am okay with cause i feel like i'm in school myself and its not really my thing! but next week is VBS and that should be fun...and exhausting!
we made a giant slip and slide which turned otu really cool, chase, katie,(and brett :)) when we get back, were totally trying it okay!?
last night we found hedgehogs and we held them, how crazy is that>?!
they are so cute, their faces look fake!
keep up the prayers, we have a very real chance to share God's love with these girls tonight, and 3 nights next week. its not a lot of time but God can work in really wierd situtaions, so just pray!
love you all and miss you all! craving olive garden! and stopping at in & out on the way home from the airport!
and not gonna eat potatoes for like a year once i get back!
ha
love,
Jen
hey jen miss you see you soon.
love matt thiss

Jen,
You have always been a great writer, & your updates reflect that gift. We will definitely have to do something about that Olive Garden/in&out burger craving.
No doubt you are right where God wants you to be at this very moment. Isn't that an awesome thought, the creator of the universe has chosen you to be in Latvia right now--WOW.
WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU & THANKFUL FOR YOUR WILLINGNESS TO SERVE.
We will be praying for the girls in your group & your interpreters.
Love you a bunch,
Mom

Dear Jen,
I want to give you a HUG!!
I got some new toys from Old Navy today. They are red, white & blue, one squeaks, the other is a ropy chew thing. Both are very fun, and I look forward to sharing them with you. MK has not been by to play with me :( what gives??
The fireworks scared me, I barked alot!
Miss you,
Toby (pant, pant, slobber, slobber)

Hey Jen! Sorry I haven't sent any messages, but that web address you gave me didn't work. I called your mom, and she gave me the azhills.com site. Our computers wouldn't load the website up for some reason. Your mom was just here trying to get it to work. We finally asked Meredith to try on her computer and it worked!
Your mom said you guys almost finished the food bars. See, I told you you'd need a lot of those! Glad you guys got there ok and are having so much fun with the Latvian kids. Keep me posted on what's going on, and what it's like there!
7/7/06
Jen,
Sorry I missed your call--I am so bummed!!! But, it was good to hear your voice on voicemail. I left a message at Hailey's to see what kind of phone card to get.
Love you,
Mom
7/7/06
Jen,
Check your yahoo email for ATT phone card number.
Love you!
7/9/06
Hey Jen, I've got to tell you something Meredith said the other day. You know how you get frustrated when people think you're in high school, or worse, that Emily is older than you? Well, I don't know how we started talking about it, but I mentioned to Meredith that you were born in September of '85, and she said "Wow, I always thought Jennifer was older than you!" Wow, you were actually one of the privilaged few to be complemented by Meredith! Hope you are all doing well over there. Keep me posted. We miss you!
Good to talk to you Saturday. Sounded like you were right next door. I was swimming laps and met Toby face to face. Not my idea of fun, but he was thrilled. Love you much. May God bless you and use you this week at VBS.
VBS started today, it was good. way better than englsih camp. my group is all 4-7 years old and all but one can't speak ANY english. so i have mastered two words, "lets go" and "be quiet".
yeah, its a little frustrating i will admit but they are cute and easier to maintian since you can just throw them over your shoulder and walk. during the entier week we spend half the afternoon, so an hour or two, in the lake. i'm pretty sure that if we dont' contract some sort of virus this week from the waters that eventually down the road we will discover something like a random growth on a limb that is traced back to its murky waters!
but we had a nice thunderstorm, or acutally sunderstorm is waht they are called here!
it was great, i awoke at 2am to our room all standing on the open window seals just taking it all in (there are no screens on windows here and they open all the way, like as tall as a person...no safety at all!)
all is going good and its sad to think we will have to leave in just a week or so. i really like it here and wish we couel spend more time!
to everyone who comments on here, i really like it, sometimes you need just a little encouragment and its nice to have some comments to boost the spirits, especially after a long day at the green lake!
love you all,
Jen
Youuu are a great writer. You make me laugh and you remind me of my mom!!! JK. It's cool the way you tell us all that's going on instead of just "we're doin' fine". We appreciate all the details. I cried in church when we talked to John in the service. I cried cuz Amanda was standing in the back holding Anderson and she had tears in her eyes. They sacrifices you all made to go and follow God's will is amazing. We will definitely pray for you this week at VBS. Praying for strength, and that God Will use you guys even through the language barrier. We think of you guys often and check the blog several times a day. We Misssss you guys! Don't forget to pray for our VBS next week. Love ya!

Hi Jen,
Like Jacque said, it was great to hear Jon's voice in service Sunday, & it was very moving when he spoke to Amanda, everyone in the auditorium had tears. Everyone is so proud of our AZHills Team, God's hand is upon you.
We would like to have a "sunderstorm" here, when we do I'll think of you. Keep your comments coming, you are by far the most informative writer of the group. Everyone loves your comments & insight. Regarding the virus from the green lake, I'll have a doctor's apptmt. scheduled upon your return. did you get the phone card #s from your yahoo email?
Love you a bunch <3 <3 <3
Hey Jenny! Beannie and I were at the Wag's on Saturday hangin out and Brett was playing Play-Doh. He had out his table saw and I asked him if he wanted to be a carpenter.Jacq told him Jesus was a carpenter and he looked at her with a surprised face and said, "Oh Snap!" So funny. Miss you guys and praying for you!
7/10/06
Hey Jen,
Hailey's mom heard you were having trouble with our ATT calling card. She said to just use Hailey's & we would give her some $$. I will try to get by Costco for the MCI card &/or I will call ATT again for better instructions (the guy from India was very impatient when giving instructions).
Oh snap!! Good one Meme!
Love ya, Mom
Toby had a visitor this evening. Boy, is he a lot calmer after that visit. Toby is too.
You hit 50 comments, Jen! WOW!! I love and miss you! I went to the Gap for you today. I thought they might be missing you too!!! Connor was a typical two-year-old though . . . I don't think they were missing me.
I agree about your great info and writing . . . how else would I know what happens in Latvia?!?! I would be completely in the dark without you!!!
I am praying for you always . . . and especially now since I know about the lake. Yikes!!
7/11/06
Jen,
It was great talking to you & Em today. Glad you got the phone card working (Hailey thanks for your help).
Sorry about all the bug bites & the green lake sounds really gross! I find it interesting that English camp week was easier than VBS week.... wonder if Satan has anything to do with that--hmmmm. Stay strong & we will continue praying for stamina & good health to finish the race.
Love you,
Mom
Jen, since you seem to use the blog on a regular basis will you tell Adam to check his. We have been praying for you and the team daily. I enjoyed talking to your mom tonight. She brought me up-to-date since Adam doesn't seem to communicate very well--I quess that's a man for you! Keep out of the "green" lake and watch your starch intake. Please say hi to everyone for us. The Crane's
Grandma and Gpa are here at the Wagner Fam house. We showed them the blog and they got a kick out of the comments and loved the video and pictures. Grandma says they love you and miss you. They pray for you all the time sometimes all day long. They aren't ever sure what time it is there so they just keep praying. Can't wait to see you.
They got to see Brian last Sunday at the Red Lobster in Prescott for an hour or so. She said he looks real good (shaved head, but not quite like your dad's.)
Love you guys,
Grandma, Papa, Brett, Katie, and Jacque
hello everyone!
yay vbs is over, and i could possibly be more thankful for that than for having a hot shower..okay, maybe not but they are definetly tied!
we are exhausted, not sure why latvians do vbs from 9-5 but sign me up for the half day one anyday!
lets see, nothing really new, well 4 slavations last night, all very emotional but i truly think they were heartfelt.
we have the concert tomorrow night and i'm really excited, not reall yfor the band but at least to bond with the girls one last time before we leave! i feel like related to someof the girls, which is weird that we have only known each other two weeks!
we are also done with the lake...THANK GOD! we found out last night that the stick like things we see are indeed leeches! but no fear, no painful encounters, but we have some disgusitng growth in our swimsuits, looks like mold, and well, lets see that for a germ-a-phobe like myself, its really a stretch to put it on everyday!
also good news, we prayed for rice for breakfast, and we got it! yay...weird that rice would make me that happy but hey, if its not boiled potatoes, its heaven!
amanda, thanks again for sharing jon with us for the past weeks, the kids here have told us multiple times that they love his talks and i can speak for everyone (except adam who insists to speak for himself) on the trip that he has done an awesome job and we are very thankful!
we are all still alive, and pink eye is just randomyl around, not too serious but still spreading. don't worry though we know the drops to buy and have got it under control!
the humidity is pretty high here and we are tryting to wear as little clothes as possible so we are just having a good time with that!
family:
miss you guys a lot, chase i played catch with a kid this week(couldn't talk to him cause he didn't speak english) but it made me miss you a lot!
em and i hope to get to see brian before he leaves!
well, my time is up on the computer, dena i passed on the message to adam, ha, we'll see how that goes!
so long to all, chow!
see you in a week...be thankful for the air conditioner!
and for ice!
love to all,
Jen
Jenny and Pemp!
Hey guys....missing hangin with you...I pretty much own Anthem since you guys are gone. Raitlin is here and she leaves tonight...she got the JOB! We got an apartment at 43rd Ave. and Thunderbird and she is moving here like July 30th....YAY! Can't wait to see what you got me...your mom was in one of the local newspapers again...surprise....Anyway...have fun....
7/13/06
Hey Jen,
Miss you & alot of people are asking about the trip.
About time that Zachy boy posted on this blog. He has been pretty much MIA, persona non grata--just ask Toby!! And Zachy boy, just because Jen & Em are gone for 3 1/2 weeks, you don't own Anthem--yet. There...now I feel better-- JK Zachy.
Jen, sounds like you guys & your clothes are pretty gross, haven't you done any laundry???The laundry room is going to be delightful next week end :^}
Miss you & <3 you. Mom
Judging by the last post, your mom really misses me coming over and hanging out...Sandy, I'll only come over if you buy gushers. Make good choices and Godspeed, girls...
Hi Jen, miss you a bunch, my OC daughter. Must be like Shock Therapy for you.
Seriously, Jen....you're gonna come back and be like, "yay...I love germs now"..."who needs showers!"...If I find you swimming in that swamp puddle at Anthem Way and Noble Hawk, I'm probably gonna throw up.
Cate and I missed seeing you...we went to Chipotle with BSBS and Piz...we missed you and Carl...Western Pics as soon as she gets here!!!!
we are wrapping up today! we mopped the main room for the last time and are starting to sort clothes as dirty/clean...which is ironic cause nothing (literally NOTHING) in our suitcases is close to clean. but if it doesn't have a major stain its still wearalbe! mom to answer your question..we did laundry, in a trash can that we lined with a plastic bag...but you can't get stuff out with just water and well whatever, we resorted to throwing our clothes on the floor of the shower and dumping a shampoo on top of them since we ran out of detergent, who woulda thought!
thanks to the secaurs for it though, we really needed it!
zach, i seriuosly am less of a germaphobe but realized a new phobia...claustrophobic! the buses here make me wanna black out!
pizz told me about Raitlin! i'm so excited that she moves here, yay another friend that is a girl..haha!
can't wait to be her maid of honor, we'll be best of friends i know it! :)
miss everyone, thiss will probably be the last post since we lieave tomrorow moring at nine, and we are ready to go home, but not ready to leave...we are all inlove with the kids and don't feel like our work here is close to done!
i dont' think anyone back home can realize what an impact we are really having and how much response we get to our outreaches..its like heaven for a missionary...
love to everyone
es tevi milu (i love you in latvian..with help from kaspars who came to the internet cafe with us )
on the sidewalk.com
ha..i can to spell withdrawl...now at least!
oh,
em and i want to make sure that jacque steve and the kids come to the airport!
and buddy too....
Hey Jenn...so my friend's friend's son is Zack, which is your sister's boyfriend... yeah, one of those. Anyway, they were talking about the trip and I thought I'd leave a message, but after reading everything, I was honestly blessed by your attention to detail. After being a missionary for a little while, I can tell you honestly that your ability to communicate what God is doing not only in terms of action but also in your heart is something that will help the people that are here and praying for you understand what happened and realize the destiny God is calling in their lives. What God is doing there in your heart and through your life is only the beginning of what He is going to do with this experience because of how He has gifted you. Something I thought that needed to be shared... my group of friends are praying for all of you...
7/15/06
Hey Jen! Glad to hear that the camp went so well. Not sure what day you guys are leaving, but I hope you have a safe flight to London and back home. Miss you!
7/15/06
Hey Jen,
Boy, it seems like these weeks have flown by,we have been extrememely busy, but it also seems like you have been gone a long time.
-----
Thanks again for your insightful messages, they are full of details & energy. As Aaron (hi) mentioned, God has gifted you as a communicator/writer. I think your 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Smith, first mentioned the gift to us. Wouldn't she be pleased to hear how you are using your gift, WOW, who woulda thunk it???
Oh Zachy, Zak/Zac, Joshy, & other pantry raiders------GOT GUSHERS!!
I think the Wag Fam has your return date/time on their calendar : ) They miss you alot too.
Love you, Mom
Hi Jen, I'm SO sorry I did not blog you sooner and now you probably won't read this til you get home...oh well. I loved reading your blogs and could feel your excitement through your words. Sounds like your trip has definitely been life-changing! What a cool opportunity to be used by God! See you soon!
Missed you, Girl! Can't wait to hear all the stories! See you real soon!!
